Modern Dating Is Scaring the Shit Out of Me

I’ve always been a lover girl. I love love.
The act of falling and staying in love has fascinated me for as long as I can remember — which is ironic, because I’ve never been in a relationship. I just love the idea of it. Holding hands, walking in the rain, sharing a cup of coffee on the balcony with your person… bliss. Pure bliss.

But here’s the thing: modern dating? It’s scaring the shit out of me.

Every time I open Instagram, I stumble upon new dating terms I’ve never heard before. Half of them I don’t even understand — and honestly, I’m not sure I want to. Love feels more complicated than ever. People treat each other like options. They hide behind vague words. A “situationship” — where it feels like dating but no one dares call it that. “Benching” — keeping someone on standby while pursuing others. And there are so many more, but my heart isn’t ready for the glossary.

The little girl in me still wants to date so badly. But the adult me? She’s terrified.
Still, even with all this noise and fear, I believe in love. Maybe I’m naive, but I hope I’ll find it the way I’ve always imagined — soft, intentional, and full of passion and romance.

No matter what, I’m holding on to that hope. Always.
