✨ In My 20s: Soft Thoughts on Figuring Life Out

 Hey there —

I’m 22, and sometimes that feels like standing right in the middle of who I was and who I want to be. It’s messy, confusing, and honestly, sometimes really beautiful too.

I thought by now I’d have it all sorted out — a clear plan, a shiny routine, maybe even a grown-up version of myself who knows exactly what she’s doing. Spoiler: I don’t.

But here’s what I do know so far…

🌷 It’s Okay to Be a Little Lost

Often, we don’t know what to do in life, and that’s okay. We don’t have to have it all figured out right now. Sometimes, it takes time to discover what we truly enjoy doing. Live in your present without worrying too much about the future. Time will move you in the right direction.

🌷 Comparing Myself Hurts More Than It Helps

Recently, I opened a LinkedIn profile. While exploring other people’s profiles, I felt like I had done nothing. Most of them seemed to have perfect profiles with lots of certifications and jobs in well-known companies. It made me feel like I was so far behind everyone else in the race.

Then this thought came to me — everyone started somewhere. I’m in chapter one, while they’re in chapter five. So, take things slowly. Learn the skill you want to learn. Take them as inspiration, not competition. You don’t have to live a life like theirs. Live a life that feels right for you.

🌷 Finding Joy in Small Things

There’s something called a “glimmer.” It means a small, faint light — or a tiny sign of hope, a feeling, or an emotion. Find glimmers in your life. You can spot them anywhere: in a warm cup of coffee, your favorite food, reading your favorite book, or a call with someone you love.

I find glimmers when I’m with the people I love the most when I read a book with a warm cup of tea beside me. Happiness can be found in the smallest things, and sometimes we overlook it. So find joy in the little things — they often mean the most.

🌷 Rest is Not Laziness

In my 20s, I’m teaching myself that rest is not a reward — it’s a need.

Taking breaks, doing nothing for a while, or just sitting with my thoughts doesn’t make me lazy. It makes me human. Being productive is good, but overworking leads to burnout and guilt.

Rest doesn’t mean you’re not productive — it means you’re listening to your body. It doesn’t mean you’re a bad person. We’re often taught to put work before our health, but make sure you take enough breaks. We are not machines that run 24/7. We’re human beings.

🌷 I’m Allowed to Change My Mind

I come from a computer science background, but my heart whispers stories and words. I thought coding was my forever plan — maybe it still is in some way.

But I’m also giving myself permission to write, to create, and to explore new parts of myself. I’ve found interest in content writing and digital marketing, and I’m working to learn about them.

It’s okay to change your end goal, especially if it was set by someone else. It’s your life. You decide what you want. The universe will always have your back and steer you toward your true path.

If you’re in your 20s too…

If you’re reading this and you feel like you’re floating, wondering if you’re behind — you’re not.

You’re exactly where you need to be. It’s okay to not know yet. It’s okay to rest. It’s okay to try again tomorrow.

With love,

Nebu 🌷
